Walk on the Wild Side.

Posted by Gordon Fraser on

As the National Parks slowly awaken from their forced hibernation over the past weeks and months of lockdown, we can look forward to, once again, in the wilderness of the Lake District, the Peak District, Dartmoor and the Cairngorms. These and the 12 others are all magnificent places to experience the outdoors.

There are also approximately 300 country parks whose scenery and activities rival those of its bigger siblings but on a smaller scale. Not to mention that they are a whole lot more convenient to access and explore.

So, rather than loading up the car for a cross-country journey, why not consider some of these lesser-known but just as enjoyable options instead?  There is bound to be one near you.

Here are our TOP 10:

Sherwood Forest Country Park, Nottingham, England

Lepe Country Park, the New Forest

Lullingstone Country Park, Kent, England

Lickey Hills Country Park, Birmingham, England.

Bodelwyddan Castle and Park, Denbighshire, North Wales

Beecraigs Country Park, West Lothian, Scotland

Carnfunnock Country Park, Northern Ireland
